Ather Konarc: Breaking Down the Exclusive Teaser Photos and the All-New EL Platform
The cat is officially out of the bag. After months of speculation, Ather Energy CEO Tarun Mehta took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the name of their highly anticipated family electric scooter: the Ather Konarc. Set to make its global debut at the Ather Community Day on August 29, 2026, this scooter represents the biggest strategic shift in the company’s history.

We’ve managed to capture four exclusive, high-resolution screenshots from the latest teaser video, and combined with a recently leaked image straight from the factory floor, we finally have a clear picture of what the Konarc brings to the table. Here is everything you need to know about the Ather Konarc and the much-talked-about EL platform.

Ather has historically favored sharp, sporty designs, but the Konarc is pivoting hard toward the practical, mainstream commuter segment. Analyzing the four exclusive frames we pulled from the teaser, a few major design elements immediately stand out:

While the teasers gave us the silhouette, the factory production-line image completely changes the narrative. The biggest takeaway from the factory floor? Metal body panels.

For the first time, Ather is ditching its signature polymer bodywork in favor of metal construction. This is a direct play for the traditional ICE scooter buyer who equates metal bodies (like the Bajaj Chetak or classic Activas) with long-term durability and lower repair costs. The factory leak also confirms a bulky, family-oriented rear section housing neatly integrated, slim LED tail lamps.
This 29th August, at Ather Community Day, we’ll be launching our mass-market scooter built on our brand new scooter platform.

You can’t talk about the Konarc without talking about what’s underneath it: the all-new EL Platform.
As highlighted in recent industry reports, the EL platform is Ather’s first completely new vehicle architecture since the 450 series launched. Built on over 26 lakh kilometers of field data, it is designed strictly with the high-volume, mass-market buyer in mind.

Why the EL Platform matters:

Ather isn’t stripping away the tech just because this is a commuter scooter. The Konarc is expected to run on AtherStack 7, bringing features like turn-by-turn navigation via a TFT console, voice commands, and crash detection.
Perhaps the most exciting rumor is the inclusion of AEBS (Advanced Electrical Braking System), which intelligently blends regenerative braking with physical brakes to maximize range while improving stopping power.
Pricing: We expect the Ather Konarc to be priced aggressively between ₹1.00 Lakh and ₹1.25 Lakh (ex-showroom), putting it directly in the crosshairs of the TVS Orbiter, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Ola S1 X.
All the final specs will drop on August 29th. Stay tuned.

When is the Ather Konarc launching?
The Ather Konarc will officially launch in India on August 29, 2026, during the annual Ather Community Day event.
What is the Ather EL Platform?
The EL Platform is Ather Energy’s new low-cost, highly scalable vehicle architecture. It is designed specifically for mass-market, family-oriented commuter scooters, allowing for flexible battery sizes (2kWh to 5kWh) and improved manufacturing efficiency.
Will the Ather Konarc have a metal body?
Yes, based on leaked production-line images, the Ather Konarc is expected to feature metal body panels, replacing the polymer bodywork seen on the Ather 450 and Rizta series to appeal to traditional scooter buyers.
What is the expected price and range of the Ather Konarc?
The scooter is expected to be priced between ₹1 Lakh and ₹1.25 Lakh (ex-showroom) and should deliver a real-world range of approximately 100 km on a single charge.
